Application area

This European Standard specifies a test method for determining the open time of mortars and adhesives for ceramic tiles. This European Standard applies to all mortars and adhesives for gluing ceramic tiles to walls and floors, for exterior and interior use. This European Standard does not contain requirements or recommendations for bonding ceramic tiles.

Note : Ceramic tile mortars and adhesives can also be used for gluing other types of tiles (natural stone, concrete blocks, etc.) if the properties of these materials are not degraded by the mortars and adhesives.
