The ability of some structured disperse systems to spontaneously restore the original structure destroyed by mechanical action. Thixotropic structure restoration is a mechanically reversible isothermal process that can be reproduced many times. In a broader sense, Thixotropy is a temporary decrease in the effective viscosity of a viscous-fluid or plastic system as a result of its deformation, regardless of the physical nature of the changes occurring in it. According to TSB.
Note : Thixotropy of a mortar or adhesive means it resists sliding of ceramic tiles on a vertical or inclined surface. According to EN 1308.
