Adhesive break (AF-S or AF-T)

The gap along the boundary surface between the mortar or adhesive and the base is designated AF-S (Appendix A, Figure A.1); the gap between the tile and the mortar or adhesive is designated AF-T (Appendix A, Figure A.2). In both cases, the test results are equal to the adhesive strength. According to EN 12004.

Frost resistance

The ability of a tile to withstand, under certain conditions, a certain number of freezing and thawing cycles without the subsequent appearance of defects on the glazed surface and (or) destruction of the shard. According to ST SEV 3979.

Open time

The maximum period of time after application of a layer of mortar or adhesive during which ceramic tiles or slabs may be laid over the applied mortar or adhesive, subject to specified bond strength requirements. According to EN 12004.

Ceramic tile

A flat, usually thin-walled, glazed or unglazed product made from ceramic mass, used for external or internal cladding of walls and wall panels, as well as for flooring. According to ST SEV 3979.
