Adhesive break (AF-S or AF-T)

The gap along the boundary surface between the mortar or adhesive and the base is designated AF-S (Appendix A, Figure A.1); the gap between the tile and the mortar or adhesive is designated AF-T (Appendix A, Figure A.2). In both cases, the test results are equal to the adhesive strength. According to EN 12004.

Note : In some cases, a tear may appear in the layer of mortar or adhesive between the tile and the steel stamp. In this case, the adhesive gap is designated VT (Appendix A, Figure A.3), the adhesive strength in this case is higher than the strength obtained as a result of testing. If possible, the tests should be repeated.
