The ceramic workshop at St. Andrew's Monastery was founded in 1998.
The first step was the restoration of the original historical tiles from the 17th century. The founder and ideological inspirer of the workshop, Sergei Lebedev, chose the restoration of the traditions of ancient ceramic art and its further development as a priority task. The entire process of making tiles is carried out manually, with an attempt to adhere to old technologies as much as possible. Each tile is an individually made product. Over the years, the workshop has accumulated a wealth of experience in recreating ceramic tiles for churches, architectural monuments, stoves and fireplaces.
In 2001-2002
The workshop did a very interesting and unusual job of recreating ceramic dishes in kokoshniks on the facades of the Church of the Life-Giving Holy Trinity in Khoroshevo, 16th century (Karamyshevskaya embankment, 15). Based on the results of the 10th Competition for the best restoration, reconstruction of architectural monuments and other objects of the historical and urban environment of Moscow “Restoration-2002”, we were awarded the title of laureate. At the beginning of its activity, the workshop was only engaged in recreating tiles from past centuries, but over time, the assortment of old tiles began to be replenished with newly made tiles.
In 2005, the workshop produced new tiles for the facades of the Church of St. Michael the Archangel (Pushchino).
Currently, work is underway on the tiled decoration of the interior decoration of the gate church of St. Andrew Stratilates in the St. Andrew's Monastery.In addition to restoration work, the workshop carries out individual orders, the main items of which are stoves, fireplaces, interior decoration with tiles and ceramic elements. Production of tiles for stoves and fireplaces. Tiles for inserts into interiors, frames and furniture. A new direction for us has been the use of tiles as furniture decor in the interior design of private houses. Since the summer of 2004, the White Chambers of Moscow has hosted a permanent exhibition of tiles provided by the workshop.
The workshop has repeatedly taken part in exhibitions held in Moscow and abroad, the founder of which was the Moscow Government.
