For the last 25 years, the “ceramic world” has been working on creating the ceramics of the future. What doesn’t suit specialists about traditional ceramics? We are not satisfied with the main characteristics - strength and durability.
In 2016, 2017, 2018, I was able to attend seminars conducted by the manager of the Ceramics of the Future plant, Valery Nikolaevich Zhelezovsky. The information presented by this enthusiastic person, a master of his craft, turned out to be understandable, accessible and useful for me. Having passed it through myself and used it in practice, I decided to pass it on to visitors of the InfoCeramics website in the form of a series of articles.
The high performance of ceramic tiles is due to careful research into production technology, but the main reason is the firing temperature of the tiles, which varies from 950 to 1250 degrees Celsius.
Glazed tiles consist of two layers: a shard and a layer of glaze. It can be: double firing; double, quick firing; single firing; triple firing.
Unglazed tiles consist of one layer - a ceramic shard. The color is obtained from the raw material or is colored by metal oxides throughout the tile body (tile).
Clinker ceramics are artificial stone materials of a set shape, produced from clay by firing in the temperature range of 1250 - 1350 ° C until complete sintering without vitrification of the surface.
