Ceramic tile

A flat, usually thin-walled, glazed or unglazed product made from ceramic mass, used for external or internal cladding of walls and wall panels, as well as for flooring.

Glaze general concepts and classification

Glaze is a shiny or enamel glassy layer in the form of a thin film (0.1 - 0.3 mm). The chemical composition of the glaze and the ceramic shard is different. Their thermal expansion also varies in size. For strong adhesion of the glaze layer to the shard, one must strive to ensure that the thermal expansion of the glaze and the shard is equal.

Ceramic granite. Types of surfaces

In 2016, 2017, 2018, I was able to attend seminars conducted by the manager of the Ceramics of the Future plant, Valery Nikolaevich Zhelezovsky. The information presented by this enthusiastic person, a master of his craft, turned out to be understandable, accessible and useful for me. Having passed it through myself and used it in practice, I decided to pass it on to visitors of the InfoCeramics website in the form of a series of articles.
